Lydia Leskovar
Lydia Leskovar (b. 1978) is a self-taught Canadian visual artist. She was born and raised in Montreal and is of Croatian nationality.
She is a contemporary figurative and abstract artist, and her medium of choice is acrylic paint. Her pieces focus on portraits and the human figure, particularly women, and always exude a rock’n’roll feel and vibe.
She always tries to capture emotions and feelings with her paintings. Her work is characterised by bright flamboyant colours and imperfect brushstrokes. Lydia finds inspiration in music, fashion, pop culture, people and interior design.
As an introvert from a young age, drawing and painting gave her an outlet to express herself through her art. Over the years, her passion for art has transformed into creating large-scale paintings infused with raw edginess.
Although the majority of her work features figurative and portrait paintings, she is not defined by one style of painting. Lydia also has a passion for abstract painting and is always learning and evolving her style and technique.
