Josie Koznarek
Artist and designer Josie Koznarek works in an evocative stream-of-consciousness style that results in striking works that are both whimsical and yet grounded in form and composition. Working primarily with Sumi ink on paper to emphasize the organic aspects of her process, Koznarek also aims to underscore the principles of compositional design, which the auto-didact showcases brilliantly throughout her body of work.
Based in Chicago, Koznarek holds a degree in Communications from the Moody Bible Institute and has become a rising voice within the city’s artistic community. In recent years, she has contributed to notable projects such as the Chicago division of The Other Art Fair and has also delved into the realm of live painting performances for Storefront Project that debuted at the PROP Thtr and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
