Jennifer Altman

Growing up in the rural south of the United States, the landscape holds a special place in the heart of contemporary artist Jennifer Altman. It is a constant source of inspiration and a significant subject matter in her work.

“I enjoy capturing the people, history, and beauty surrounding me. Its rich history inspires many of my paintings. Farmhouses line the rural southern landscape, each with a personality of its own. Many of these treasures are decaying with the passing of time. However, a few of these time capsules remain, and opening their doors takes me back in time. Light filters through windows illuminating the architecture and artifacts passed down by generations of family members. The simplicity surrounding me can often be both haunting and beautiful. I try to capture this in most of my pieces.”

The majority of her works are painted on sight, however, she has also studied classical painting techniques under the guidance of mentor and artist William McCullough.

Jennifer continues to paint the southern rural landscapes of her country, utilising plein air or ala prima methods as much as possible.
