Ferney Manrique Aragon

Graphic designer and photographer Ferney Manrique Aragon uses film photography as his primary medium.

In this series, Ferney wanders through physical spaces in the hope of encountering the unpretentious beauty in a moment. The film itself acquires greater significance than the camera on account of its malleability, allowing for the destruction of the moment in the image. The remainder is a new image existing in its own time, a new moment mutated by the interaction between chemical and physical agents and the negative film, a process over which he has no control. The resulting method produces captivating images with an abstract painterly aesthetic layered with the image in its previous moment.

Ferney holds a Master’s Degree in Digital Media obtained from the London Metropolitan University. Currently, he is undertaking a Ph.D. Degree in Philosophy Art & Critical Thought at the European Graduate School.

Actively involved in the art scene, Ferney has participated in several group art shows throughout London, China and Japan.

He currently resides in China.
