Ludwika Pilat

Polish contemporary abstract painter Ludwika Pilat trained initially in Architecture and Planning while studying at Politechnika Gdanska (Poland). This training would later influence the structure of her compositions, proportions and use of colour.

After years of producing precise technical drawings and developing concept sketches into renderings with scrupulous detail, Ludwika felt that she needed to create with media that would allow her to be more expressive and emotive in her work. She began experimenting with abstract painting using acrylic paint, often including collaged elements. It is this process that has now developed into a distinct aesthetic synonymous with her name. “It was a process to understand art doesn’t have to be accurate and perfect.”

Her work is influenced by nature, science, her travels and the people she meets. An active member of the creative community, she regularly participates in exhibitions and recently participated in Be Rossocinabro in Rome, Italy (2019).
