Gerald Stein

The work of artist Gerald Stein is a compelling body of contemporary studies of light, architecture and natural landscapes. Of his subject matter, Gerald states “It can be the effect of light reflected in a landscape or the textures and colours that light reveals as it moves across architectural forms that inspire me. I am also interested in the complexity and variety of shape and form in urban environments. It is the combination of classic and contemporary architecture fused and its continuous state of flux and evolution that captivates me.”

Gerald studied physics at MIT and architecture at UC Berkeley and was for many years a partner in a successful Toronto architectural practice. Gerald is now an active member of the art scene and his local creative community. His work has been exhibited in numerous group shows and has recently completed a successful solo exhibition showcasing his latest body of work. He is also a signature member of the Pastel Artists of Canada.

Gerald prefers plein air drawing and painting. “Sketching outdoors captures a vitality that energises the drawing and painting process, and pastel offers a wide range of expression.”

Gerald currently works and resides in Toronto, Canada.
