Ingrid Elias

Dutch contemporary botanical artist Ingrid Elias aims to paint her subject true to nature, using watercolour techniques. By reinterpreting the essence of the subject on paper, she creates a new reality.

Her inspiration comes from flowers, but they also challenge her with their continuous change of form and colour. Ingrid’s process is meticulous and methodical. She conducts comprehensive studies of her subject, taking note of every detail to faithfully represent it true to nature. Working with the most delicately small brushes, Ingrid painstakingly builds her image in many thin layers. Impressively, Ingrid’s reference while working is with a physical flower and she has developed a unique method that gives her time to capture her subject while working on it for months.

Ingrid is an active member of her creative community and has participated in group exhibitions, among others at the Shirley Sherwood Gallery in the Kew Gardens, London (UK) and the Noordbrabants Museum, ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Museum de Zwarte Tulp, Lisse, the Flower Art Museum, Aalsmeer (all in the Netherlands).

Through her web shop Ingrid’s works of art reaches botanical art lovers all over the world.
