Micca Nonoyama

Micca is a contemporary illustrator and painter based in Tokyo.

“My speciality is mainly hand-painted acrylic paintings and pen drawings. I haven’t received a professional art education, but I created my own art style, just like the artists I admire, Henri Rousseau and Jakuchu Ito.

My works have been awarded several times at art exhibitions, including comic illustrations, paintings and drawing for children in Japan. I have also been commissioned to create insert illustrations for magazines.

Recently, I have been using the charm and human-like behaviour of animals as motifs to create works that tickle the hearts of audiences. My aim is to express the everyday life of humans through animals and create a story from a single painting. I often publish my new work on my Instagram account, @micca_nonoyama.”
