Cécile M.

Illustrator, designer and print-maker Cécile M. currently resides in Lyon, France. She describes her work as, ‘’poetic, soft and graphic.’’

Much of her inspiration derives from traditional Japanese art, the patterns found on kimono, tie-dye, and the art of Studio Ghibli. She enjoys immersing herself in the graphics novel universe with books of great artists like Bastien Vivès, Catherine Meurisse and Tillie Walden. Cécile also appreciates textile design and enjoys Simone Pheulpin’s sculptures.

In addition to her artistic influences, she also finds creative inspiration in nature and her travels in Iceland, New Caledonia, Japan, Morocco, Canada and others.

Her design and screen printing business offer clients a range of services including workshops, illustration, private commissioned pieces and assistance in bringing personal projects to life through drawings and prints. Her studio also serves as a shop and gallery where clients are welcome to browse and enjoy the work on sale. Cécile’s creative practice employs a range of techniques and materials, including ink, calligraphy tools, embroidery and linocut.

Her professional training includes a master’s degree in architecture from ENSAL, the architecture school in Lyon. She has also learned to engrave and wash drawing techniques from artistic associations. In addition to exhibitions at her shop, she has also shown work at Alcove Gallery, Lyon.
