Karen Salcena
Fascinated with art since her earliest years, Karen Salcena has allowed her practice to evolve from a traditional portrait style to her new forte within the ever-expanding realm of digital design. Her illustrations, which unite in their soft pastel colour palettes, are cute and feminine and evoke a sense of innocence and happiness that can only make viewers of her work smile warmly.
Born in the Cayman Islands but raised in the Philippines, Salcena graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Arts major in Visual Design from Miriam College. Following her graduation, she pursued a career as a graphic designer. In 2018 she shifted the focus of her career to illustration, documenting the progress of her work online via Instagram.
