Joely C. Rogers
Artist Joely C. Rogers offers a refreshing take on a staple of human existence: the food we eat. Conjuring a rich array of favourite foods steeped in equal parts draftsmanship and nostalgia, Rogers works both by hand and digitally to make fans of her work start to salivate. Rogers infuses her culinary illustrations with ingredients that channel the rich flavours and comforting cuisine of her upbringing in the American South. They recall the indelible connection between food, culture
and humanity.
Born in Mississippi along the United States’ Gulf Coast, Rogers earned a graduate degree in English language education as well as a scientific illustration certificate from Gretchen Halpert’s Scientific Illustration Distance Program (SIDP). She has taken on various roles throughout her career, including working as a pastry chef. Today, she is based in Asheville, North Carolina, and splits her time between her art and her role as co-owner of Frame Destination.
